complacent emancipation

she had been dying all her life. she was unfortunate; her mind was all colors and ideas and music and questions, and there was no truth in her. and maybe i should have been sorry that in all the knowledge she acquired, she never quite learned to live.

but it was her dark-eyed complacency that i envied.

and there is no freedom, for in all we do there are laws and influences; the process of cause and effect is never completed in one individual, but is part of a chain, a thread in the fabric of the universe, and in such chain there is no chaos. we can only choose tour method of utilizing what we're given, and time goes on.
